I work for Republic and we request a manifest list. Most F/A's just use it to make sure what seats are filled and where the employees are. I for one make note of every FF on the list and I try to let the *A FF that we appreciate them giving us a try. I also use it to call every prefered by their last name. The gate agents will inform us of VIP's and their special requests. I had Danny Glover on several weeks ago when he was going to Sarasota. he was very nice and boarded with everyone else and then allowed everyone else to get off of the plane and he said hello to all of them. Our company does request that we treat them as normal FF passengers and allow them their space. I ackowledge that they are there and let them be. If they want to be chatty thats fine but most just want to sleep. I know some of the Forbes 500 just from general conversations with them. I try to always be in the A (Forward) position and they tend to stay in the bulk head seats and it is easy to have a conversation from the jumpseat. Some people I just see every week (even though i don't go to the same cities I do say hi to them in the terminal) and some people you just know because of the work they have done.
If you want to see the video and feel a tad better that somebody who is a flaming liberal (good) threw out 4 or 5 audience members physically that were being retarded (also good), here:

What makes somebody a VIP? I mean, it's obvious if say, Bill Gates walks on your plane (of course that isn't going to happen, he has a private jet), but say James Spader (who stays far, far out of the public spotlight, more than any other actor I know of) walks on your plane (no body really knows who he is unless they've seen his movies or watch Boston Legal, and even then, the gate agent may not pick up the name), how do you know they are a VIP? Does the person booking their flight make mention? And what kind of requests can these people have/do have? And who do they request it from; the gate agent, or somebody at corporate?
