Just got off UA #858 PVG-SFO this morning. Right before arrival at SFO, an auxiliary pilot came on making two announcements:
1. Go to bathroom before seatbelt light comes on
2. Flight attendants please prepare for landing

Those announcements normally are made by a first officer. Who is an auxiliary pilot? An extra pilot?
