Like some others, we use the drawers when staying more than about two nights or so. It's so easy to leave something behind that sometimes it's barely worth it.

Mrs. Fredd took her middle school band members on an overnight trip annually to a larger city, staying in a college dorm and performing at an elementary school. One of her sweetest stories (among many) was the little girl who brought along pictures of her family to hang on the wall overnight.

OTOH we never move in to that extent.
