I don't see why that should be the case. My existing one expires in 2012 being issued in 2002 when they were non-biometric of course. So don't see why i should replace it at my own cost all because they changed the system...
Well, she couldn't seem to type in the data, so that's all we can think. It's odd as wifey plus sprogs travel every 6 weeks or so, sometimes more often and frequently through the (appalling) MAN T2. The passport in question has less than 6 months before it expires, but again this shouldn't have caused a problem as the flight was within the EU.
I have had a few grumbles in the past few months at MAN about my old style passport also, although never that it has caused such a delay.
