Yes, you get your miles back.
It's true that you can't change
all itin online (and changing via phone is $50 fee). When doing a change itin flight search, only NWA flights will return (ie no partner airline flights). So the limitation here is that you can only change
to a NWA only itin. But since you want to do TPE->KIX->DTW (a NWA route), it wouldn't matter to you.
