The 853 (SFO-NRT) on 12/23 was delayed until 12/24 at 9:00am and the website showed arrived (when in fact they had not even departed) the entire time the people were waiting at a hotel in SFO. The delay was a mechanical that kept them on the plane 3 hours before being confirmed as requiring too much time to fix than was available to fly that day. No news of a fire in NRT in the Japanese press that I have noticed here in Tokyo, and I would bet on a mechanical being the problem. The website cannot show the “D” flights for wahtever reason. These are the flights that retain the same flight number but are delayed overnight and appended with a “D” when they do fly. This is to differentiate them from the flight of the same number going that day as scheduled.
