To get access to the Sumaq Lounge, AA must issue you a pass at check-in. Sumaq Lounge staff won't let you in by just showing your platinum card.
This is pretty much the standard in South America. I've never been able to walk in, I think they just like giving out their little passes, there's probably no real reason.
