Umm...I did not try on Emirates. But a year ago, I did CX713 HKG-BKK, then TG BKK-Chiang Mai. CX suggested and checked my bag thru to Chiang Mai, so I do not need to take the bags in BKK. BUT, CX check in agent said that I must go to TG counter once arrived BKK and give TG staff the CX baggage barcode in order to update in the TG system. Actually the process was quite smooth, except that our bags were among the last three to come out in Chiang Mai.
