Angry Why are Hyatt Hotels in the US so bad?

I just returned from a private trip through California. Usually I travel within Asia and I am well aware, that hotels in the US tend to be a little bit "less upscale" than in other areas of the world. Nevertheless, I was really highly dissapointed with the Hyatt Hotels I stayed in (eg. Hyatt Fishermans Warf in SFO, Grand Hyatt SFO and particular the Hyatt Westlake in Thousand Oaks). This was absolutely no comparison to any Hyatt International I have stayed over the last years around the globe. Rooms were filthy, windows either complete dirty or, in the case of Hyatt Westlake, virtually non-existing. That´s right. They put me in a room that had all windows covered by a plastic-foil, due to outside renovations. Even during the bright day it was dark as the night inside. I was pretty much annoyed, but the check-in clerk could not see, why somebody would need a room to look out from or even why to open a window. "Sorry, we are full". Great
Having had these experiences, I could not see so much difference between a Hyatt and the Motel 6 in Anaheim, where I had to stay on night. This was good value for money and the staff was 1000% more friendly than the Hyatt people.
One last comment: The best Hotel I have stayed in during this California trip was the Omni San Diego. This Hotel is absolutley comparable in terms of service, friendliness and romms etc. even to Hotels like The Peninsula in BKK. They had presents for the kids and a amazing Select-Guest Morning Service. So I will prefer Omni definitely over Hyatt next time I am in the US.
