I did not know Alberta has privitized...as a matter of fact, the liquor price has almost doubled.

Last month I was in Vancouver, and found a number of labels I could not find in Calgary.

Dom Perignon cost >$230 here, while Moet & Chandon charges $60. These are the most expensive prices in the world.

I find Calgary to be one of the best cities in Canada when it comes to wine, a much broader range of good labels and vintages. With the privatization of the liqour industry in Alberta it has taken the government out of controlling what product is imported. I live in BC and the control board here makes it very difficult to get foreign wines as they are trying to protect the BC wine industry. I actually drive to Calgary a couple of times a year and stock up on hard to get wines.
