OK...did i miss something because i never saw that post! unfortunately, the fares i saw were no mistake as the competitive pricing was so low, ATA was just matching other carriers. with the low fares, a lot of the carriers have been full.

and you would be wrong. unless there was no space on any other carrier, PAX should have been accommodated on other carriers. i should know cuz i work several days of overtime at LAX. i don't work every day, however, during the days that i did, we were able to accommodate several PAX on other carriers; however, they only have so many seats on so many a/c. if the PAX aren't at the airport in time to be reaccommodated, what can be done?
keep in mind that this happened the first weekend of the new year. how many OA a/c do you think were empty?
unfortunately, the problem has a domino effect, as the a/c used basically fly back and forth. once delayed, the downline station experiences the same delay, and so on....

and it's the pilot's fault ATA purchased these "dogs" from NW? is it the GA fault? or the FA?
a number of planes were purchased to be used as charter aircraft to move the military. according to a rumor on another "website" a couple of the a/c are going to be used for parts to fix those said "dogs". the DC10s were included in the HNL route system to give the crews practice on these a/c.
lastly, i'd be cautious what you "hear" from these mechanics, since for the most part, they seem to push off to the downline stations as much work as they can get away with. i'm not saying all mechanics are like this, but those that i've seen over the last year working at ATA.
