Any way of under 18's becoming members?

My partners children are both under 18 and travel unaccompanied a minimum of once a month on the cheapest available fares between Heathrow and Edinburgh which I book on my bmi card on the website.

They would be blueplus by now if members (not likely to make silver in a year) and are having to pay for drinks and sandwiches on board (well their dad does) as cannot join up.

They are travelling the miles, why can they not get any benefit?
