Within the last year and a half, both of my grandfathers and one of my grandmothers passed away (all in their 90s with one around who will probably outlive even me. ^) I checked on AA's bereavement fares and while they have them, the discounts are really very small.

If you have the points, you might check on FF tickets. Coach FF ticket availability can sometimes be easier to find than one would think. I was able to use the 15K awards for my family and I.
