If CO wanted to sell lie flat to a customer and the customer wanted to buy it for a trip to EWR to BOM & BOM to EWR which is on a 777. They have multiple 777's that cover that route...

If I wanted lie flat - how do I confirm that lie flat is going to be on both segments? No way to do that when making a reservation unless CO dedicates planes with lie flat on specific routes and I do not see that happening on CO.

Today and for the forseable future CO can confirm BF on EWR to BOM and BOM to EWR because its serviced by 777's and they all have BF, but not all have AVOD!!!
I don't think this argument has been appropriately analyzed. Even if CO converts part of a B772, thus making a three-class plane, it will have some B772's that are lie-flat and some that are not. Among other things, the new argument assumes that CO will market a true lie-flat BF cabin before conversion is completed.

Frankly, partial conversion of a fleet isn't an issue. It doesn't matter that some of the fleet is lie-flat while the rest has legacy BF seating during the conversion process. CO sells its BF cabin. If some of the equipment has a next generation business first configuration, so what--a bonus to some lucky passengers. CO would probably not market the product until the fleet is near conversion--just like it doesn't market AVOD on the B772's yet.

The argument you raise is a bit of a canard. It doesn't explain why CO should convert B772's to a three class service.
