I've never come across this before, so I was wondering if I took the C class ticket, would I be able to "upgrade" myself using a certificate? Certs of course state Y, M, U fares only for upgrades, so would they work for C?

Just wondering. I'll probably book the full J fare anyway but I was curious to see how C fares really work.
Hey.. I come across this all the time- before you go and book the full J fare- call the AC reservation line (as an elite you have a preferred number), and explain what you are seeing- they may be able to "find" the C fare for you. I have had this happen more than once on YYZ/FRA and the savings can be a few thousand euros (or dollars or...). This is my recommendation...
