Congrats on your trip - I would love to go to HKG.

When my wife and I were coming back to MSP via ORD from FRA, we were in Intl FC. In FRA the concierge met us at checkin and took us to the Intl. FC lounge. Then picked us up before boarding, escorted us through FRA airport (nice - at the time FRA was under construction/remodeling and there was a lot of detours etc - easily could have gotten lost). She also took us out of the way to exchange some DMarks before boarding. She walked us up to the front of the line and past security (pre 9-11 actually Apr 99) and right onto the 777.

Another bonus, at our seats, she was informed by the 1stFA that our video units were broken. So, the concierge asked two employees travelling in F to switch seats with us and sit in the broken video seats. The employees were not to happy but I was mighty impressed. Actually I felt like informing these clods that they were flying on an airline free - because of customers like me who flew for $$$. Anyways - the concierge was a big help.

We left on FC from MSP - since we connected in ORD we were not aware of the Intl FC lounge - and used the RCC (* gold) instead. On the return we *found* the Intl FC lounge (behind UA Cust Service desks Term 1 C18 in ORD) in ORD - very nice.

So I think the concierge is helpful when needed - but generally once you are at your seat - that is all. Of course given that a fair amount of FC paid passengers are older - they may have some additional needs. So it sure it worth the $ to have them.
