Eight years ago, Citi paid $280,000,000 for miles given out that year. The number of miles given out is a much more difficult number to figure out.
I wonder if that was for all Citibank miles.
Those of us with a UK Citicard only get 1 mile for each UK£, which together with a 2.75% currency charge when used in the USA make it a non-starter for most of us.($ purchases are converted back to UK£)
Yet without a US Social Security number it seems impossible to get a US Citicard - despite owning property in the US.
Incidentally some years ago there was a big campaign in UK by retailers/restaurants etc to boycott AMEX because of their very high charges; I did hear it was as high as 5%(not verified)
