I only flew 3565 miles in December on UA--will be ending the year at 65.000. 1013 of those miles were smooshed into one CRJ flight from DEN-BNA...enough already..
I would have flown up to 15,000 more in December had the double miles still been in effect and the threshold for 1K lowered to something in the neighborhood of 80,000 miles. Otherwise, I see no need to add any additional miles this year.
In October I flew 12,000 on UA and 8500 in November. Almost enough for Premier status just in the final quarter after 9/11..
Only additional travel in December will be a quick SAN-LAS trip. Normally, I would have flown this on UA even though it means a connection at LAX, but I see no need to use UA when a 1-hour flight turns into a 3hour+ trip each direction and the fare is more than double that of WN...If there were still double miles, it would have bumped me to 1K, and the fare was equal to WN's, I would have taken it on UA..
Two trips planned in the first 45 days of 2002; they will both be on UA. I would have already booked others for February and March, but UA is either not matching fares on the routes or not matching the no-Saturday stays of the competition..So even though UA is claiming such low load factors, they are not making any effort to fill the planes...What's up with that, UA?
