Back in the days when I flew UA some, I often listened to Channel 9 (Hint Delta, I love it and I want in on DL). The pilots and ATC don't even call it turbulence that often. More likely is the hear "light chop" or "light to moderate chop". Moderate chop is what most people would call turbulence. If they call it turbulence, it's pretty rough.
