I usually buy my tickets for recreational travel 5 to 6 weeks out, not 8 months out.

I also normally do not buy recreational travel this far out. First Class actually was lower than normal at just a shade below $1000. Coach was about $350.
The red eye was usually available but the other daily nonstop flights were maybe only one or none.
Luckily hotel will not be a problem as we have lots of relatives in MSP.
