They do it by having 30" wide seats in a 1-2-1 layout. The idea is that one can get extra length by sort of lying across the bed. Regardless of whether this works, I think it clear that going 30" wide and 1-2-1 doesn't achieve CO's objective of keeping capacity constant. I would think something like BA's forward/backward layout is the best for getting a high-density config with flat-beds.
