I've never found the SQ stopover deals to be anything special. There are lots of web sites which offer discounted SIN hotels - eg Asiarooms.com. However, SIN hotels have been extremely busy of late - book early or you may not have much choice left. One option I tried on my last stopover (early Nov 07) was one of the new resort hotels on Sentosa Island (Amara) - I got a great internet only opening special rate from their own web site. Of course on Sentosa you're quite far from the whole Orchard Road scene if that's your thing - but it is a lot more relaxing and you can always pop over to Vivo City for your retail therapy.
