Ahhh, Frankfurt... the memories...
anyway, the airport supermarket, while adequate for an airport supermarket, is smallish and a little expensive. My alternatives (assuming you don't have a car) are:
  • HIT Sachsenhausen (Morfelder Landstrasse): Excellent selection, good prices. Used to be my local... Bus #61 takes you there straight from FRA (get off at Oppenheimer Platz). 20 mins on the bus, but drops you off at surface level at both ends, so you actually see where you're going.
  • Niederrad: Two stops on the S-Bahn. A REWE Supermarket and a Lidl next to the NH Hotel, and an ALDI nearby.
  • S-Bahn to Konstablerwache. Posh Karstadt food hall accessible directly from the station (as you leave the train, turn left and take the exit at the back of the station). There's a pretty grotty Lidl in one of the side streets to the right of Zeil, and of course the wonderful if pricy Kleinmarkthalle to the left.
If you have a car, go to Russelsheim (follow Autobahn signs for Wiesbaden, then Mainz, exit immediatly after merging onto A 60 Autobahn). About 1 mile after leaving the autobahn, there's a mini-mall (REWE, Penny, dm, Fressnapf and McDonalds), with free parking.
