But I think the unprecidented specific nature of this crime would invoke the specific statues designed for airport saftey.
I would not rely on the catch-all "mentally ill" tag.
In my observations over the years the police tend to charge people in these types of incidents with the highest level of charges that they can. I'm going to trust that after their investigation and interviewing of all the people concerned they were unbaised and laid the proper charges.
Further to your odd logic then, the guy that we all saw on the video recently on the AC YYZ-LHR flight frieking out and scaring the crap out of eveyone (and clearly of ethnic origin) should have been charged with some heinious crimes also? Or are you that lacking in compassion for the mentally ill or emotionally disturbed?
Anyhow until I hear otherwise I for one will assume the right thing was done and not shoot off at the keyboard.
