MAN-LHR. I'm guessing you'll have a late afternoon/early evening flight so expect perhaps a sandwich if not some nibbles. All drinks are on da house with BA & QANTAS except champagne. Domestic flight is fairly uneventful. 31" seat pitch (or 34" in the Club area). Airshow may play on drop down screens on any airbus/B757 aircraft.

LHR-HKG. Dinner service with a choice of chicken or beef. BA's catering out of Heathrow is usually excellent. The hot main course will be accompanied with a salad (usually quite good - more inspiring salads have taken to the aor recently) & bread roll of some description & a dessert like cheesecake or apple pie. A small Kit Kat Chunky can be found somewhere on the tray. A tea & coffee service will follow, followed by duty free.

The 6.3" PTVs feature BAs greatly awaited AVOD system which has been fitted to the entire BA B747 fleet with the New Club World upgrade & the B767s which aren't receiving the new seat. BA only fly 747s on their thrice daily Hong Kong flights. A wide selection of movies, about 20ish new releases & about that much more. Lots of short features, CD albums, radio tracks (I can't remember that well, but someone else on Flyertalk will surely fill you & me in)

The seat pitch on BA is 31" which is average, although perhaps a little uncomfortable on a leg such as Hong Kong. I therefore have a series of suggestions for you;
52B/52J - right at the back, but immigration isn't an issue as much as it is in the USA. This is where the cabin narrows down to 2x4x2, the second row. You can put a small (my rollercase doesn't fit, a hulky rucksack perhaps?) between the seat in front & there window & it provides people the oppurtunity to sleep almost flat. I got this tip of someone else. It works! Best spot on the plane. You get a lot more space to put your belongings next to you. Also you get served first after row 53.
Any bulkead seat will do.

IF the plane is relatively empty in the back, & you can see some spare rows of seats, nab them quickly before or shortly after take off (it is possible to get a good nights sleep across 3, but 4 would be nice. Alternatively, get a seat next to a window, use all the cushions to prop your head up & that suits nicely)

BA won't upgrade anyone unless they ABSULUTELY have to. If they do, they'll upgrade their high-ranking frequent flyers first. Without status, it's unlikely...
Also, World Traveller Plushas fixed sided seats. If there are spare 3s or 4s in World Traveller, I wouldn't bother pushing for an upgrade...

Prior to landing, you will be served a full breakfast service. I've only flown long-haul to the States on BA & therefore only received the packaged all day deli service (lucky me), but I've read many reviews of the Asia flights. You WILL get a hot item, usually a full english breakfast (I'm not sure if there's a choice but other airlines will generally offer something like noodles for their asian client - don't quote me on that) although I have seen people get pretty awful paninis. Accompanying your hot breakfast 'surprise' will be a fruit plate of some sort, a yoghurt & a baked item, usually a small muffin. Tea & coffee is the norm.

QANTAS offer a similar service (AVOD, 2 meals, 31" seat pitch...) although as it's a shorter sector, QANTAS usually have just a pastry instead of a full english or soemthing prior to landing in Sydney. I must confess that I haven't flown QANTAS but the internet is very resourceful. Someone will surely fill both of us in

Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!
