Finally, JetBlue did something about it - something that seems rather fair. A select few seats are being reserved for highest paying customers. Mind you, there are still plenty of window and aisle seats available for lower paying customers, and remaining "high-end" seats are being released 24-hours ahead of departure. This seems very fair indeed.
Quite frankly, it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.
I certainly agree with what you're saying. However, the irony is that B6 has always said every seat is the same and every passenger is the same. With this change, B6 is acknowledging that not every seat is the same.
I imagine its just a bit of time before B6 realizes that not every passenger is the same. Some passengers fly them more often than other passengers and deserve some perks in return.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. With the newly implemented $40 change fee for taking advantage of lower fares, supporting flight caps at JFK, and now the premium seat blocking, B6 exhibits all the signs of shedding its roots as a "different" carrier and instead is turning into a legacy carrier.
What is taken away, should be given back in another form. Unfortunately not many improvements to existing pax have been seen recently. Everything has been switching to just like the legacies instead of on top of the legacies.
B6 is clearly in the "Now What Era". These changes are relatively little. Makes me wonder what big changes are ahead.
