Indeed so the ball is back in FR and EZ's court - as Spanishflea says - it's a cost thing. This does fit with my argument that I'm sure the cost for the bags goes to the cost of adding more fuel as a result. Whereas the cabin baggage allowance is probably tied more in with the average weight of a passenger.

A laptop bag and the size allowed is fine for a weekend away if not a couple of days.
