Here is another reply from someone called "Charlie" regarding a more specific comment re the discontinuance of UCONX. It sure looks like the 1K desk will get real busy come July 20.

In order to provide the best travel planning tools and information, we
have turned our focus to united.com. United Airlines along with our
E-Commerce division are dedicated in bringing many of the features to
the website. Some of the features are currently under review. Your
feedback is always appreciated, and considered to make united.com the
best travel website available.
As you know, we do not have the ability to use any form of discount
coupons or senior discounts when booking via the internet. We have made
no finalizations regarding this enhancement. While it's definitely an
enhancement we are looking into for the future, I regret if we gave you
the impression during previous communications this was something that
would be added during a certain time frame.
We want to thank you again for being a loyal United Airlines customer
and we appreciate your business. Your feedback will be sent to the
