The upgrade was really weird... I was checking in and I had both my suitcases weighing 70lbs, while I am only allowed 50lbs in Y. I think EK charges $30 per each suitcase weighing 51-70 lbs. So, the lady called the manager over to say that my bags weighed too much; when we came over, he just said "it's okay, let them go, I was going to upgrade him anyways" without looking at my PNR or anything. Hey, I'll take it!

I was traveling YYZ-DXB-DAC on a OW ticket and got upgraded on both sectors. I travel J quite a bit but OW way J fare was just way too much ($6800 or something like that) so Y was the way to go ($1329)

I just missed Gold by 5,500 tier miles, which is a real shame; I am stuck in DAC at the moment, and the only EK route here is DAC-DXB; I had no intention of doing that, though Gold would have been really nice! Oh well, I am hoping to get it in 2008!

Toronto should definitely be getting a lounge; an EK-dedicated one would be great, but who knows! If they are able to get CTA approval for DAILY, then I suspect a lounge will be popping up soon thereafter..
