I had a similar experience.
NO TRACKING ON LOST LUGGAGE. Just a barcode with no tracking records. Cant find anything on the computer, just no tracking whatsoever exists. Cant tell if it made the first flight, cant tell if it made the second flight, just no clues, could be "anywhere" really but its "probably somewhere".
p.s. My original barcode tag was on still firmly affixed to mine when it arrived a few days later. No other tags were attached.
I think they already have statistics on lost baggage when you filed the claim. Its the statistics on travel experience complaints they might be concerned about.
