Not using all legs of a ticket
I am traveling from Des Moines back to New York... via Chicago on Saturday.
I picked a rather roundabout route to get extra miles so it's DSM to ORD then ORD to CLT then CLT to LGA.
Anyway, i bought the cheapest ticket direct from United and am now thinking of stopping in Chicago overnight.
I called to see if I could continue the two latter legs the following day but have been told the ticket in non-changeable and non-refundable.
I will be using the leg from DSM to ORD but does anyone know what the liklihood of me rebooking for Sunday / reusing or or perhaps putting the value of the unflown ticket to another flight would be? (assuming the weather is fine in ORD!)
Also, when it comes to my bags, could I ask them just to be flown to ORD rather than onwards on their own to LGA?
