Not sure how it would pan out in reality....
You are thinking along the lines of what I was; I can see that happening like this for example:

Euro Chaveller -food and drink to purchase, bags cost £5 each way, allocate seats at check in on line. If you want to check in at a desk, need to pay £2 to do so (like ryanair). Bookings may not be changed, cancellations not permitted
Chaveller Plus -food and drink vouchers to say £5, free 23KG bags, choose seat at any time for no fee (a real plus), booking changes £20, refund of taxes.
Club -food and drink, seperate cabin with convertible seating, 2x 23 kg bag, lounge access, etc.

In reality, i think this would scare away BA regular chavellers and would create a disincentive to use the Club product.

They need to find ways of raising ancillary revenues though, be it through paying for luggage, checkin etc. That way, the fares appear less than they are (like with fr, ezy). Maybe if they were able to install IFE on the european fleet (i know it won't happen but hypothetically) and charge for headphones, maybe have sat phones in seats for a charge or web access???

When mobile phones can be used onboard, this will be a revenue earner because we just can't resist checking our blackberries or texting. 'Hello I'm on the plane, no I know i should have been in Barcelona 2 hours ago but ...' X20 times from different seats sound great!
