I recently had to jump through hoops to get my Austrian Airlines miles credited to my frequent flier account. After several calls, I ended up faxing over my boarding passes and receipt, but still I was told that until Austrian Air confirmed the info, United couldn't give me credit for the flights. My follow-up question was: "What exactly do you need to get from Austrian Air that you can't confirm from my boarding passes?" The response: "That the flights took off and landed." So bogus... The miles finally posted after about a month of waiting. It just doesn't pass the smell test.
