Earning AAdvantage miles on Alaska Airlines

OK... as a seasoned traveler, I should know the answer to this, but I don't. A new job I'm taking will have me traveling the West Coast quite a bit, and I'm considering using Alaska Airlines quite a bit. Can I use my AAdvantage number when booking trips and get credit for flights in that account? Or do I need to open a new Alaska Airlines account and get the miles posted there? I know I can use the miles across since they're partners, but I'd prefer to just have all miles posted directly to AA. Possible??

Thanks!

PS: For those of you backbiters out there, yes, I searched. I searched and searched, and didn't find anything. If you are able to find something, you're a better searcher than I am. Just post the keywords I should search with, or post a link to the search results and leave it at that. No need for snarky comments, which I know several of you just LOVE to do. :-) And yes, I will post this on the Alaska forum too!!
