I have flown the ORD/HKG nonstop a number of times, most recently last month. Frequently on departure from ORD we headed straight north and basically did not turn until landing in HKG, the pilot commented on the fact we would be flying the polar route, think he said 40 miles to the east (or west?) of the pole itself. Always came back the pacific route though.
