If you want a truly comfortable transit in Y, then I would go with SQ and Executive Economy on SQ21/22 - but this comes at a higher price, and you are up in the air for at least 16-18 hours SIN-EWR-SIN, therefore, without communication.
Oh yes, what about Jet? I think they are servicing MAA via BRU - and they fly right into either EWR, JFK or YYZ right now! ^
