The 10000 points will post after the first statement comes out.
After the monthly statement is out, it takes 2 or 3 days for the points to show up in your HHonors account. They are pretty good about it. The AMEX statement also tells you how much you have spent on the card during the particular year so that you know how far you are from getting Gold after spending 20K.
