First-time poster here...
I'm about to graduate medical school, and before I start the 7 hellish years of residency, I'd like to go with my wife on an all-out vacation to Hawaii this May (Europe is too expensive with the high Euro). From what I hear, CO has the best service to HNL, and the non-stop from Newark would be sweet. So, what is the best way to get two businessfirst seats? Buying them outright is about $2500 each...if I buy coach and upgrade (I plan to transfer Amex points), I can get it for less, but CO has a host of rules regarding upgradability with various classes of coach ticket. It's a little hard for me to decipher. So if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it: What are my options for businessfirst other than buying outright? What's the best combination of coach ticket + points + upgrade fees?
