I don't use them in London, as I primarily fly VS now, and collect everything on my VS AmEx. The only exception is when I have to make a HUGE purchase and I just can't resist the SPG points.

Others in the past on FT have said that the 2-3% fees are not worth it, but that can vary from person to person.
