What they sold was a mistake fare. Now I wouldn't pay the full freight for UA's C or F at the moment myself, but $1480 rt to New Zealand other than in Y is one heck of a bargain. I imagine that most those who took advantage of it would have walked away happy even if the arrival lounge wasn't available to them, even if their seat was duct taped and even if they didn't care for the brand of champagne that UA served. Somebody somewhere made an error, but UA honored a mistake fare and flew folks around at way, way below cost. That'd be enough for me. To seek compensation over a closed lounge afterwards strikes me as awfully greedy.
