Those who paid the full F and C prices might have a legit complaint. What I find laughable is the idea that someone who paid $1450 to travel rt in C is entitled to compensation. Most people wouldn't have the nerve to ask, let alone demand it.
Why? How many people would pay for UA F? I'd hope not many given how lousy it is. If you're doing SYD-SFO, and PAYING... you should be flying QF. As it was, I knew at least 6 of the pax in F were upgraders and 2 op ups.

United Business is a really lousy product, and I doubt many people pay hard currency for it.

Regardless, they sold or issued a ticket for a given product. If they fail to deliver, then there is a problem. CO is consistent. UA is not. Xyzzy pointed out to the agents that if they won't have the arrivals lounge open, they shouldn't hand out the invites. And incidentally, the name "Arrivals by United" just sounds snobby. but its a snobby airline.
