I can understand if you are upset, even if you didn't buy a whole row, if you had a row blocked and a FA had to give away your seats. I had that happen the other day and I know it stinks. I just don't know why the buttinskys feel the need to try to stop someone from giving/receiving an upgrade unless they were denied one they were due.
I don't think the OP was upset at having someone sit next to him (even when those seats were 'blocked.') You might speculate that the OP is upset at being 'passed-over' when the in-flight op-ups were handed, but he didn't say he/she was upset either.
