60,000 miles = XY?

Hi, I had to book a last minute flight for my defensive linebacker-built cousin to and I wanted to treat him to F.

It's a F Saver award PHL- LAX. Problem is on the red eye coming back. It's LAX - SFO - PHL. The SFO - PHL portion is in Y. I mistakenly assumed that 60,000 miles meant F all the way, but I guess not.

I feel badly as he'll only be here for 24 hours helping me with an smelly, unpleasant task and all 6'8 / ten tons of him will have to go right to work after hopping off of that red-eye.

Am I stuck with him in Y? Since I gave up 60K, can I put him on a wait list if XF opens up? I tried searching but couldn't search for "XF" and "wait list" "saver" and other relevant terms bought back so many hits about upgrades that were unrelated to my dilemma.

Thank you and happy new year!
