In addition to having zero international flights out of New Orleans, I'm not so sure that MSY does have customs facilities. Maybe you are right, probably you are, but I haven't seen any evidence of Customs around since Katrina. Example: I was traveling with a man who was required to turn in a form to customs, and the airline told us that we would have to do it in DTW.

A shuttle driver told us that there was a rumor going around the "international" was going to be removed from the name, but upon reading this thread, I'm not sure that there is any process for doing this.

True, they don't have any current scheduled international flights. Pre-Katrina they had service to Canada and Latin America. Earlier MSY had scheduled non-stops to Europe.

Also, they have customs facilities that process thousands of international arriving charter passengers, especially during Mardi Gras.
