With AA, you can get Platinum status by taking the challenge and earning 10,000 EQP's (they're essentially AA's MQM's) in 90 days. Though, AA Platinum is nothing like a DL PE--ideally, you want to hit EXP on AA.
As was pointed out, it's tough to get SkyTeam members to match elite status. However, you raise a good point that you're essentially leaving a CO hub and focusing on cities served by DL; there's no harm in trying for a match. Let us know how it goes.
That's what I figured...I don't think I will have enough next year to hit EXP, so that tips it in DL's favor. 75k sure, 100k is a stretch. Hopefully between my statements, my business card, and my already-purchased travel for the new year, I can convince them this is my goal and not just a play to get double-status. Honestly, I'd really rather stick with CO, as they have been fantastic to me for 7 years running now, but it's just not an option when EWR is 90 minutes away on a clear day versus 20-25 for LGA/JFK both. Here's hoping Delta can win me over and make me happy I switched.
