I think 1k is well worth it, just for the use of the 1k/employee security lines. Today was the first time I used that new line at SEA and it was terrific.

Of course, everybody thinks they are a comedian. The priority line sign in SEA said, "Employees, Alaska MVP Golds, and United 1K Members ONLY". When I handed them my boarding pass, my driver's license, my MVP Gold card and my 1k card, the agent said, "Wow, I think you are the only person in Seattle who is both an MVP Gold and a 1k. I guess we'll have to let you go through security twice."

I really do love our SEA 1k staff. Quiet Lion is correct, they are the very, very best, but I have also had amazing treatment in the 1k rooms in ORD, and SFO as well as the RCCs in SEA, PDX, SNA and EWR.

Since becoming a 1k I have only flown in coach once and that was when my original flight (along with 75% of all flights) was cancelled due to bad weather on the east coast. I am certain that it was my 1k status that snagged me the last seat on the last plane out of ORD. I didn't complain.

I always get first choice of meals, upgrades, excellent reaccomodations when necessary, and extraordinary personalized treatment. OK, once in a while I get a grouchy 1k agent on the phone, but I take it as a challenge to turn them around before the conversation ends.

We (Hunki and I) will both certainly go for 1k again and again. Peregrine is only an (almost) PremEx but since he almost always travels with us, he gets the same treatment that we do.
