Beach & Diving: Seychelles vs Mauritius vs Mozambiqeu vs other??
My wife and I are going to be in Botswana for 2 weeks of safari and we're trying to decide where to go for ~9 days to unwind afterward. We were thinking beach, diving, etc.
Current situation:
- we're in our early 30s and we get bored laying around on the beach; we prefer somewhat active vacations
- we're relatively new, but enthusiastic divers
- we used a South African business award ticket from Europe that currently takes us to Mauritius (after stopover in JNB for the Botswana safari)
- initial plan was to spend a few days in Maurius then fly to Seychelles for ~7 days (air Seychelles is ~$400 round-trip in economy)
- Time of year: late May
- We're somewhat budget conscious, but flexible having spent so much money on the safari (no desire to pay over $500 per night, prefer under $200or $300 unless the place is exceptional). We've found some acceptable options in Seychelles in that range and will probably save some $ by doing cash/points award at Le Meridian Mauritius
- Seeking relaxing location with beach, diving and other outdoor / sightseeing activities
I have seen mixed reviews of Seychelles recently and recommendations for Mozambique (Indigo Bay, Quilalea, Vamizi, others).
Where would you recommend going? Any specific hotels, sights, etc. there?
Thanks!
