A couple days ago I got something last-minute for relatives flying from Hamburg to the states for January 1st. Orbitz, Travelocity, and especially Opodo were all higher and didn't list the fare that I got on nwa.com that beat them all. I am used to Opodo being exorbitant for flights originating in Europe, and I think it is a marketing issue. Other U.S. sites often offer better fares (and, FYI I often find the best INTRA-European fares from the U.S. portal of Travelocity as opposed to anything available through European sites, including the German portal of Travelocity). The kicker is this: to book at nwa.com you need to have a U.S. credit card with a U.S. mailing address. It is possible that fares aren't getting listed at other portals because airlines in their mysterious marketing ways want to carefully tailor the public availability of various fares for the same flights. (Just like if I want to rent a car in Europe, the price at AutoEurope's German portal is usually significantly cheaper than if I try to book the exact same thing through AutoEurope's U.S. portal).
