No co-pay on H fares except to HNL, where it is $200 each way IIRC.

As for how it works, you have to get lucky and find a flight with the u/g seat available and then book it and book the upgrade. Also worth checking as the X fare plus the $450 may be less than an H fare, though there is also the issue of the additional EQMs from the H ticket.

You can search online for flights with u/g availability. Just do EWR-DEL as the IAD-EWR flight is going to be on an ERJ where every seat is first class
