Hi everyonge. I wanted to find out if anyone has tried to merge two existing united freq flyer accounts in the past. I can't really find anything on their website and an internet search wasn't that helpfull.

I came across an orginal account I had with United for the last 10 years. I opened a new account spur of the moment last year for some sign up bonus (couldn't find my original account at the time) and have now accumulated enough miles for premier status this year on the newer account! Now I don't know what to do with the two accounts; one has the benefit of years open, the other as premier status; both have considerable mileage awards. Can I merge the newer one into the older one and keep the perks or will one have to be closed out and I would lose the perks of the one closed? (the old one was kept active apparently by being hooked into a credit card that awarded miles). Any input on this would be great.
